During the development of POPGOES, POPGOES 2: The Dead Forest and POPGOES Evergreen, a lot of content has been created that didn't make into the final game, including scrapped sequels and additional stories.

POPGOES[]

POPGOES 2015[]

Main page: POPGOES 2015

FNaF3 Themed Props[]

During the development of POPGOES, there was an idea of props that were strongly influenced by Five Nights at Freddy's 3, such as figurines, fan, poster, Popgoes' empty mask and the location map. They were eventually scrapped, as they were seen as too cheap.

Restaurant Menu[]

The original menu concept was a literal, restaurant menu. It had about four different animations of each panel flipping to display more information. The concept was scrapped because it was near impossible to constantly update once a member was added/removed from the team.

Silver the Squirrel[]

Silver the Squirrel was a scrapped squirrel animatronic[1] for POPGOES 2015.[2] Her appearance would be a basic grey squirrel with orange clothing.[3] However, she would've been the third squirrel sister alongside Saffron and Sara, as confirmed by Kane Carter. Their power color would've been orange, similar to Manora the Mouse and Morse the Mole.

White Face[]

WhiteFace

A white face is included in the Extras menu. The image was representing Fritz Glade and it was supposed to be one of the rare screens. The fact that it was a photo made it feel out of place, so it was scrapped.

Original Sixth Night[]

There was an idea for Toy Bonnie to be the "final boss" enemy exclusive to the Sixth Night. He would act very similar to Golden Freddy from Five Nights at Freddy's 2 appearing in slumped positions, appearing as a giant floating head and putting scrawled messages on objects around the pizzeria. It is unknown what his mechanic would be, as it was scrapped later on.[4]

Original Death Screens[]

The original Death screens featured tips on how to deal with whatever animatronic killed you. This idea was scrapped and replaced with tips on how to get the Grave Ending. There was another test image made for when Blake drains the power, although it also was scrapped.

POPGOES Reprinted[]

Original Epitome Popgoes[]

The original Epitome Popgoes model for POPGOES 2: The Dead Forest was made by HeroGollum, who left after only making that singular model and not giving the file. Because of this, a new version was created by Smashing Renders.

Prototype Animatronics[]

During the early development of POPGOES 2, a special version of the main crew was created, called Prototype Animatronics. They were based on the original pixel art concepts for the animatronics. There were two concepts revealed, introducing "Prototype Popgoes #01" and "Prototype Stone #01". Stone has been unofficially called "Pebbles" as a reference to being a small version of "Stone" the Crow.

Canonically, they were supposed to be scrapped designs for the animatronics created by Fritz Glade, and they would appear in the game as props. They were scrapped and revealed on July 12th and July 23rd, 2017. The "Prototype #1" heads were based on the original pixel art and edit mockups of the animatronics.

Early Minigame Concept[]

Three months after POPGOES released, concepts for minigames in the sequel were planned out. The gameplay revolved around traveling through WeaselWare, interacting with interesting props as a disembodied Strings head. Nothing was ever programmed and all the photos are simply mock-ups of what it might have looked like.[5]

Angry Lux Animatronics[]

The Lux Animatronics were originally going to have angry expressions on their faces. This idea was scrapped for unknown reasons.[6]

POPGOES Arcade[]

Shadow Coins[]

ShadowCoins

Along with Regular and Emerald Coins, there was a third type of currency planned for the main game called "Shadow Coins". It was not decided on what they would do before being scrapped, but there were three main concepts.[7]

  • You would receive a large amount of money all at once, but all remaining money you collected would be halved in value.
  • It would be required for the "Blackrabbit Ending", acting as a coin corrupted by Bonnie Glade and used to communicate with the player. This concept seems to have been replaced with the Blackrabbit pieces collected in the final game.
  • It would act as a unique currency, that could be used to purchase "illegal upgrades from a shadowy character". This concept seems to have been replaced with BB's Black Market.
PatMCA

Extra Paintbots[]

There were originally going to be eight Paintbots you could fight in order to get additional colours for your room and wardrobe. In the final game there were only three Paintbots, along with two additional paint cans that could be collected normally.[8]

PATMHeartlessEnemyType

Heartless Enemies[]

Early on in the development of POPGOES and The Machinist, you would have to enter the North Forest in order to complete the game. In the forest would be a "fourth tier" enemy you would encounter, similarly to the Dead Enemies in the regular POPGOES Arcade, which would either be called "Haunted" or "Heartless." These enemies would be broken robots possessed by those who died due to Morse's "death lasers".[9]

Although scrapped, the idea was "repurposed somewhat" with the mini-bosses. The robotic replicas of Chica, Foxy, and Bonnie possess keycards located in their chests, so their reactivated selves would technically be "Heartless". The Mangle secret boss also uses the idea of a broken robot being possessed by a ghost, although it is King Freddy and not a victim of his reign.

myPOPGOES[]

Character Stats[]

Originally, characters in the premium edition of myPOPGOES were planned to have unique stats, counted from 1 to 5 represented in small rectangles, 1 being the lowest stat and 5 the highest. The idea was scrapped due to it taking a very long time to test every level with each character, as well as making sure each was possible to beat.[10]

  • Hunger Resistance
  • Thirst Resistance
  • Boredom Resistance
  • Movement Speed
  • Cooking Speed

POPGOES Evergreen[]

Mile Stone[]

F5D0ZocXsAEnQC2

Before POPGOES Evergreen was a part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, there was a character known as "Mile Stone" (milestone) made to "remind team members of important tasks and deadlines."[11] It is unknown if this character would have served an actual purpose or if it merely existed as a joke.

Popgoes Pizzeria Skylight[]

The original plan for The Popgoes Pizzeria was to have a skylight in every room that would illuminate it on each camera. However multiple problems arose such as all the rooms looking similar, certain objects being hard too see, and it being impossible to have a "night cycle" for every camera. The lighting was then replaced with a flashlight being attached to each camera.[12]

Original Kitchen Props[]

A number of props in the Kitchen had to be replaced as they were bought rather than being custom-made.[13]

Original Show Stage[]

The original design for the Show Stage in the Diner featured multiple props such as flowers, trees, and butterflies hanging from the ceiling. The design was changed sometime during development for unknown reasons, with the final design only having a forest backdrop.[14]

PANIC Eyes[]

The initial concept art for the animatronics in PANIC mode, gave them glowing irises or smaller pupils similar to Toy Bonnie. This idea was scrapped early on in development and replaced with just one full colour like in the original game.[15]

Original Popbin[]

PopbinBeta

The original version of the Popbin was made by a modeler who quit working on POPGOES Evergreen, so it was later remade by another modeler.[16]

Popgoes Kiddie Ride[]

PopgoesBrum

A scrapped asset in the form of a rocking car kiddie ride was supposed to appear in the Party Room. The asset was scrapped due to being "too old-fashioned" for a pizzeria started in the 2020s.[17][18]

Scrapped Phones[]

There are over 50 Phone cases planned for POPGOES Evergreen, but there are many of them that were scrapped during development.

  • A "Chocolate" Bar phone case was planned, but was scrapped for being too large for the game.
  • A "Jukebox" phone case was planned and would change colors and play music from POPGOES Arcade, but it was scrapped for being too large and "a bit much."[19]
  • A TV style phone case was planned to appear, but was scrapped and separated into two separate designs, those being "Vintage" and "Retro".[20]
  • A "Organic" phone case was planned, but was scrapped as it was too complex to model.[21]
  • In reference to Five Nights at Freddy's Plus, a "Ghost Detector" phone was created and looked similar to the item meant to appear in the game. The phone was scrapped after Phisnom was removed from the Fanverse, along with the apparent cancellation of Five Nights at Freddy's Plus.[22]
  • There was a One Night at Flumpty's themed phone planned, but it was scrapped after Jonochrome's controversy. It is unknown if any work was done for this phone, although the Panic Bar for it did have a mockup.[23]
  • The Bite of '87 was meant to be referenced with it's own phone, which would feature a miniature Toy Bonnie biting down on it. This phone was never modelled and only a mockup was made for it.[24]

Scrapped Panic Bars[]

Along with the scrapped Phone Cases, the Panic Bars meant to appear alongside them were also scrapped. These Panic Bars had different designs from the normal ones, this idea was scrapped however and all the Phones UI's now look the same but with different colours.

Scrapped Trading Cards[]

Several ideas for Trading Cards were scrapped during the development of POPGOES Evergreen. One of these was a rare card called "Vintage Popgoes", which featured Popgoes in the style of a black and white, 1920's cartoon character. However this idea was scrapped and only concept art for the design was made.[25]

Another idea was for a set revolving around the Popgoes cast in "punk" style clothing, examples being "Steampunk Popgoes" and "Skypunk Blake". The idea was scrapped, with only concept art for Blake being made.[26]

New Game +/New Game -[]

One of the original ideas for the premium version of POPGOES Evergreen was to have a New Game + as well as a New Game -.

New Game + would have included another five nights, but added a unique mechanic to each of the animatronics.[27] New Game - would also include an additional five nights, but also would give the animatronics their mechanics from the original POPGOES.

Both of these ideas were scrapped and replaced with Survivor and Endless Night.[28]

Stone's "Egg Drop" Mechanic[]

Revealed in Phisnom's POPGOES Arcade Stream, one of Stone’s original mechanics for New Game + would be dropping eggs into the pizzeria through a chute to your right. They would apply random status effects to the gameplay both good and bad such as making you lose or gain an hour, or increasing your panic the more you looked at Popgoes. This mechanic was scrapped along with New Game +.

Stone also originally had eggs in his Trading Card, but this was scrapped along with the unused mechanic.

Placeholder Graphics[]

While the Animatronics AI was being programmed, simple graphics were added in-game to see what it would look like. These were made to be temporary and only to demonstrate movement.[29]

POPGOES Hystory[]

POPGOES Hystory (History + Mystery) was the original idea of POPGOES Arcade 2. It would be a puzzle game where you played as Bonnie Glade on her laptop, talking to Marilyn Schmidt (Five Nights at Candy's 2) about both of their parents' past. It would have a huge focus on paranormality being an actual, real science.[30]

The fact that the modeller even shared these models with me and the other members is technically illegal, as it breaches the terms of the license that he paid for." (January 10, 2021)

  20. Kane Carter: "This one is called "TV" and, as you can see, it's based on an old television set. It has the same problems as some of the other scrapped phones: It's chunky, outdated, and we have no control over it since the modeller is no longer working with us. But this isn't a problem. In fact, it gave us an opportunity to work on some new designs with a clearer vision and two years of hindsight! I noticed that the TV phone had a body based on something from the 1950s (roughly), but the UI colour scheme was based on a 1990s/2000s infomercial or channel guide. So we decided to split these eras into two, and make a new phone based entirely on very old black-and-white televisions, and another based on late 90s CRT screens (the kind that professional Smash Bros Melee players use)."
